== Welcome to Witch Hunt ==

Escape from the spreading fire, and villagers trying to hunt you down!

How far can you make it ?

 

Controller and Headphones recommended for full immersion. ( Or phone version, Android only currently, still an early prototype).

This is the updated version of a game made for the Godot Wild Jam 66, with the volumes fixed, and a more complete game loop (at least it should be).

ANDROID VERSION OUT ! Project is a very early prototype in active development (made in 1 week for GWJ 66), so feel free to give any feedback you might have. (Difficulty, game loop, ideas, bugs etc..), I really appreciate it !

Currently working on a high-score system : Should I separate the scores based on the different variables ? (sort the scores based on distancetravelled, villagers burned, nights survived, shortest/longest time)


===== Controls ===== 


"WASD" or Arrows / "Left Joystick" to move. 

"Space" / "X" to cast your spell.

"P" / "Start" to pause game.

"F" / "Select for full screen.

"R" / "Y" to retry.

(Right controls are for an Xbox 360 controller but should work on any controller, with the according button, "X" -> "Square" on PS4/5 for example).



===== Features =====


- Escape from the Main Fire Spreading forward (spreads a lot faster by day !)

- Dodge the Villagers Trying to Snipe you down and burn your Broomstick, with their pitchforks and torches.

- They also try to jump and pull you down so you crash or get hit by the others throwing at you.

- Day/Night cycle that affects the main game loop

- Increase/Decrease the immersion in the settings

- It's an endless runner, but you're not forced to move right!  You have to go forward, but slowing down and going backwards is highly recommended, just find the right balance so the fire doesn't catch up !

- Burn Obstacles on your way with your broomstick, and make that fire spread !

- To put your Broomstick out, you're forced to move forward (only the back part can be ignited)

- Most importantly, have fun and challenge yourself.



===== Technical Issues =====


Controller is highly recommended, but if you do, press reload ( "Y" on Xbox ) upon loading the game, since for some reason the browser can't grab focus on the start button the first time loading the game, so you can't "fully" play the game with controller (except if you reload, and then suddenly everything is fine)

I have tried to fix it in every way possible but nothing seems to work, let me know something about this issue, I would greatly appreciate it!

Enjoyed it =) was a fun quick experience. The night number in the upper right did not update when i hit night 2, but it DID record it for the score when I inevitably died haha. Keep up the amazing work and left a follow

Thanks a lot for the feedback ! It’s so much fun to see someone play and react to your game, and it definitely helps to see what works and what doesn’t.

I changed the night system right before uploading this updated version, because you started at Night 0, and I somehow must have forgotten to update it correctly during the play through.

Also, when the day comes, everything burns super quick, and you have almost 0 cool-down on your firespell, so it’s a constant loop of tension and release (night and day).

Great game, I love the witch's art style !

My best score is only 24626 😥
